Free Trade Agreement Between India And Egypt
2. The annual quantity or value of the goods on List A and B may be changed by mutual agreement between the two parties or fresh goods added. I am writing to mention the following agreements that have been concluded between us during our discussions on Article 4 of the Egypt-India trade agreement: (i) Egypt will give India the most favoured treatment of imports and exports. In particular, India will receive treatment that is no less favourable than that accorded to France, Italy and other countries with which Egypt has payment agreements. (ii) India will also grant Egypt the treatment of the most favoured nation for misappropriated imports and exports.
The above agreement does not affect the granting or deontability of: (a) the potential benefits granted by both parties to neighbouring countries. The term “coherent countries” will include, in the case of Egypt, the Arab League member countries and, as far as India and Afghanistan are concerned; (b) the benefits of a customs union or free trade area to which Egypt or India may or may be attached; and (c) India`s advantages to certain countries bordering the Indian Ocean with respect to goods transported by land-based vessels. 2. 1 will welcome the confirmation that this letter properly sets out the agreements reached between us with respect to the above cases. Due to the large amount of jute we currently have, we will not be able to freely issue import certificates for about a year. However, given the consideration you have advanced, we confirm that licences will be issued for at least 5,000 tonnes of jute over the next 12 months.
